New IELTS format for 2023

IELTS is the most widely used language proficiency exam in the world. More than 140 nations recognize this English language proficiency test for immigration-related purposes. Passing the IELTS is the first step in your immigration process if you want to live in a country like the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, or the USA. Let us talk about the latest changes for IELTS and the new IELTS format for 2023.The new IELTS format for the paper test has changed. However, the pattern remains the same.

Exam sequencing will change starting on June 25th, 2023, but the pattern will stay the same. 

 

Earlier it was:

 

Listening Reading Writing Speaking
30 minutes 60 minutes 60 minutes 11 - 14 minutes
4 parts 3 parts 2 sections

Face-to-face ( conducted within 7 days before or after the main test)

 

 

 

 

 

Now, the sequence of modules has changed a bit:

60 minutes 30 minutes 60 minutes 11 - 14 minutes
 2 sections  4 parts  3 parts  Face-to-face( conducted within 7 days before or after the main test)

 

 

 

 

However, the sequence has changed a bit, but, the rest remains unchanged.

60 minutes would be allotted for writing, 60 for reading, 30 for listening, and 11 to 14 for speaking. 

There would be two writing sections, three reading parts, four listening parts, and three speaking parts. There will be over 400 words in the writing portion, 40 questions in the reading and listening sections, and a face-to-face interview for speaking.
